Find Serenity In the Garden
The University of Alberta Botanic Garden is the place to head when you are seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. Treat yourself to some natural stress relief among the plant life in a collection of outdoor and indoor gardens and other attractions.
Indigenous Garden
Created in 1980, the Indigenous Garden is the first Indigenous Peoples garden at a botanic garden in Canada. The plants here have traditional medicinal, dietary and ornamental purposes among Indigenous Peoples.
Kurimoto Japanese Garden
The Kurimoto Japanese garden is where authentic Japanese garden style meets plants that will tolerate a northern climate. You’ll find ornaments and structures like lanterns, a pagoda and asumayas (viewing shelters) that truly transport you to another land.
Our serene little date spot
My husband and I initially did the Twilight Picnic at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden last summer for our anniversary. And let me tell you, this isn’t a normal picnic. The food is to die for, with good wine pairings (my husband had a craft beer) while we enjoyed the sunset. We keep coming back to the gardens to explore throughout the year now too.
